A diner on Canal Street

Cup “N” Saucer was Ben Benasaraf’s diner at 89 Canal Street in New York. His daughter Iris waited tables there as a teenager.

Ben’s cup

Ben’s business card had a little hand-drawn cup of coffee on a saucer, steam rising off the top, and a line in red: “Catering · Office Parties Our Specialty.” The cup in our logo is traced from that card.

Iris’s kitchen

Today Iris cooks for Tampa. Every week she puts up a short menu of the dishes she’s always made: soups, comfort food and family favorites. She cooks them in one batch on Wednesday, and they go out by delivery or pickup on Thursday.

The name is back, and so is the cooking.
